Wasn't sure where to post this, but closed my eyes and picked!

Basically, I look after a very very bargy pony who doesn't have much respect. I do alot of groundwork exercises with him, in a special halter with a long rope and knots in it for pressure when needed.

Gary Witherford helped the owner school him when they first got him, and we are getting there but he just pushes against you and occasionally bites. We do things like walking around the arena, him behind me and if he gets too close I have to whip round and get him to take 2 steps back. And then I will stop [veryyy deliberately] and if he is too close, again I turn around sharply, very attacking stance and get him to take two steps back.

It is goign along well and we have other exercises, and by the end all I have to do is make eye contact and he moves back, knowing he is too close.

But I was just wondering if anyoen knew of any others I could do with him? Its basically instilling respect and boundaries in him. He is a very clever pony and just wants to please - once he knows your happy, he's happy.

Its great that you are making progress - he is obviously a very cheeky and intelligent pony.

You could teach him to move over for you in both directions, to go backwards - both particularly useful in the stable.
