Does anyone know of any really good groundwork-focused trainers who would come to South Ayrshire and work with me and my rising-3 year old? We are doing alright, but sometimes I feel a bit muddled and clunky because I haven't done this sh1t with a youngster in years. I would like to be less muddled, and my horse would probably agree.

Not exactly what you asked but Joe Midgely is coming back to Kinross (at LK Sporthorses) 1st and 2nd of May.

There is one space for a horse left and it will be open to social distancing spectators (limited numbers due to social distancing).

I went for the first day the last time and his groundwork was spot on. He has a video series including his new youngster being trained from scratch. His subscription service may help in place of a real life trainer.

The group hosting meet up monthly at LK sportshorses and its open to all including in hand youngsters.

There were "spanishes" at the last clinic/owned by group members

If I only had transport.

Theres a few 3.5t hire places out your way if you wanted to bring a horse. You'd need to be quick reserving a spot as there is only one space left.

Its open to pre-booked spectators. I only went one day last time and took away a fair bit about timing even although I've been fairly well versed in it. He has a really nice way about him with horses.

Day 1 was 2 groups, groundwork in the morning and then ridden in the afternoon. There was English, western & spanish riding/tack.

Second day was mainly riding and they did a bit of rope work and using the garroche. He sells collapsible poles too, probably not what you need right now for a baby but good to know if you're pursuing Spanish equitation.

But yeah if you liked his methods and ethos not only would you leave with plenty of exercises to do but there is the subscription service.

This group are trying to make Joe visiting a regular occurrence. One of the organisers is involved with RoR too and I think shea getting Joe for them too

Unfortunately, I can't drive a manual vehicle, and none of the 3.5t hire places have autos.

Might check out the videos, though. Don't need a trailer for that.
