I pulled my ISH's tail once with no issue since I got him in Summer - but I don't know what was up with him that time, because ever since when I try it's been swishy-tails and raised back legs!

He doesn't mind the rake so much, but I find it pretty useless - doesn't take long before it stops getting any hair in it. I don't have clippers to do the 'shaved sides' style which I don't hate too much... my friend scissors all of hers but I hate that bog-brush look!

So how long would it take to grow the lot back? Are we talking something like a whole year? I don't mind plaiting tails, and while it's not 'traditional' for his look it might be preferable to being badly pulled (or kicked!) - and I guess it'll thicken it up, too, which won't hurt. Never had a full tail before though! What do you think - or any other suggestions?!

It has taken Kal's tail a good year to grow out . . . I gave up with his for similar reasons as yours . . . he hated having it pulled and I didn't like the scissored look. It did take some perseverance to get past the fluffy bunny tail look, but now his tail looks gorgeous and there's enough growth to plait it nicely.

My haffy has a rubbish flattened bog brush look at the top going on, I don't know why, I think it must be from rubbing and itching in summer, guess I will find out but I want it to grow nice and smooth! I don't like anything other than a full tail myself which is good as she is meant to have one. I think plaited is much nicer than pulling or shaving if the tail is not disproportionately massive for the type so I would get growing if it were mine :-)

I'm currently growing Bs tail out - hate pulling it and I really despise the shaved look. I last did anything to it in October...

Fingers crossed I will be able to plait it by April.

I like being encouraged to do nothing ;) I may give it a try then, why not - he's half a mane short anyway so may as well grow the lot! Wonder if it would be obvious if he was wearing a black tail bandage.. :D
