Hello

In your experience, do young horses (1-4 yrs) sometimes find it uncomfortable trotting on hard ground, ie road surfaces, until their bodies mature?

Just wondering.

Thanks

what exactly do you mean by 'uncomfortable'? i would have thught it might cause problems if unshod (possibly footsore) and hammering along really fast as joints still growing but wouldn't expect them to look lame really. but then i don't really trot babies on hard ground....

Thanks for reply. Not lame, more footsore (not hammering along the road), just asking her to trot whilst leading. Vet can't find anything obviously wrong with her. Pony is healthy is every other respect. Judging by lack of comments horses don't suffer growing pains. Think she needs shoes and possibly pads.

Thanks again.
