epiphysitis / physitis/(DOD/OCD - probably not) ???

If it's a foal particularly they quite often get inflammation at the growth plates of the bones - get hot and swollen -> lameness and "growing pains" - growing too fast. Does that sound familiar ? Treatment usually involves cutting mare's feed back and rest/restricted exercise. (sometimes happens later on too - 18months common)

Hope this helps
