Hi All :)

I've got a welsh youngster (Jimmy) - he's a C x D, he's just under 2 and a half and currently stands about 13.2hh. I was told that 3 of his grandparents were 15.2hh (his mum was c x d also) and he's grown loads in the 6 months I've had him but just wondered if anyone had any experience with welsh's and what their growth rate is like after 2?

He's perfect whatever size he makes as I'm only a small rider- just curious:o

In the welsh it seems very much line dependent. One of my stallions hasn't stopped growing yet and he's 5 this year. He shot up a good couple of inches or more in his 3-4th years.
I have a just turned 3yr old who's full brother exceeds 15hh. He was a very late foal and he is only standing 13.2/14hh now. Hoping he'll get a couple more inches in.
My previous stallion stuck at 13.2hh from 2 till 4 and then grew 2 inches and his 14.2hh in his 4th year.
This years foal is growing like a complete weed. Mum touches 14hh and dad at time of covering 14.1hh but he's not far off 13hh now at 6 months yesterday.
What lines does he carry?

I bought mine as a 5 year old at 15.1hh and he hasn't grown in height since then at all but didn't fill out until he was about 8. My homebred pb welsh was very slow growing and didn't reach her full height until she was about 7.
