growth plates

From what I've heard/read, it depends on the breed and sex and therefore when they are gelded.

I know for our Menoquina (spanish type breed) they close later the earlier they are gelded, therefore allowing them to keep growing until they are 6 or 7.

Haven't a clue for Mare's, guess it's just down to breed/ing there.
 
They close at different times from the floor up I believe with the plates in the spine being the last to close at varying age depending on breed etc. What do you have?

my boy is a wb x irish cob he is five and a half and stands at about 15.1hh his dad was 15.3 cob and mum about 16.2
 
1, distal tibia , closure 24 months , rapid growth period 0/6 months
2, distal radius ,24-30 months , 0/8 months
3 distal third metacarpal , 12 months, 0/3 months
4 proximal proximal phalanx , 6 months
5 proximal middle phalanx , 6 months
