I wonder if anyone can help me with some experience. I know a horse who has a egg sized growth on her vulva, protruding. She is under veterinary care but I am unable to ask questions about it. All I know is that it is a melanoma, it was not there in late March, it is on watch for changes and bleeding and it is not feasible to do anything about it. She swishes her tail a lot but don't they all at the moment.

In your experience (and sorry I cannot tell you more) is she in pain? Is she in discomfort? Could it just stay like that for a while? Will she have to be pts if it gets bigger?

I understand you will not want to comment on this specific horse as you know hardly anything but if you have had any experiences like this I would like to hear them please. Many Thanks.

Is surgery not an option?

I don’t have any direct experience, just a pony on my yard who had multiple melanomas on her vulva... in summer the tumors would ulcerate due to her switching her tail at the flies; it would be very sore, though she was a sweetheart to treat. (In her case, surgery was not an option due to the number of tumors)
