Went out for a lovely hack this afternoon with 2 of my friends. Just plodding along chatting, when we notice ahead, a young boy with his parents and 2 dogs who were running about. The young boy was kicking about a football, so as we approached, my friend called out and asked the boy if he would not kick the ball until we were past. The boy stopped kicking the ball, so as we went past, my friend said thanks and said that sometimes, horses find footballs really scary. The boys Dad then said "Well, you shouldn't bring them out then". Friend said, sorry, but if your dog was scared of the horse, I would be courteous and walk past so as not to scare it if possible. Guy then got really nasty and started saying that us "Horse People" think we are really special and high and mighty, and that we think we own the forest. Friend pointed out that we do pay for the priveledge of using the forest, and he was all "Whoopy Doo". There was absolutely no need for his outburst and it did some what spoil our ride. I often meet people with young dogs or children that aren't used to horses, and if asked, will always stop and let them say hello. Why do some people always have to assume that horsey people think they are special, or high and mighty?
Afraid to say, that I did call him an arsehole!
