we have a friend who comes to ride george my older horse to help me out and bless her, she brough me a box of thorntons chocolates for xmas today.

me being dozy left them on the side in the yard and forgot them before driving off to work and it turns out the yard owner came out to find them completely eaten by her dog!

annoying enough to lose my yummy chocs but i sincerely hope the yo's dog hasnt poisoned itself on them!

God I hope the dog is OK, our springer once ate a tiny chocolate figure from the Christmas Tree and was continually sick for 5 hours, we never thought she'd recover

I bought a friend a box of celebrations at my last yard and left them on a high shelf wrapped in a plastic bag and locked in the tackroom where the dog shouldn't have been.

Dog was very ill from eating the whole lot including box and wrappers. I felt a bit bad but I do think that YOs should put a bit more effort into training their dogs not to steal things. I lost a boot and numerous brushes to that dog. Again all safely locked away in places where she wasn't supposed to be

i must admit they are a bit lax with their dogs - they dont even respect cars and even if you are slowly reversing will just walk straight in front of the approaching car

one got knocked over last year (was ok) but im suprised something worse hasnt happened to one of them!

One christmas my dog stole and ate 2 large bars of dairy milk, and never had a problem. I was really suprised! apparently, some types of chocolate are more poisonous than others, with baking chocolate being the worst.

our old dog once came upstairs while we were out (she isn't allowed upstairs!) got into my sister's bunkbed and stole the xmas calendar off the wall! ate all the chocs... she was fine, even though she was 15 years old at the time

our dogs were very well trained but occasionally did things like that... the spaniel once climbed onto the kitchen table and ate all the fruit from the fruit bowl!

ha yes - the same year my wonderful dog ate all that chocolate... jumped onto the dining table after my mum had placed the turkey on it (but no one else was in the room at the time) and helped himself!! I must stress that I do train my dogs and they are generally very well behaved!!

my old dog once stole a packet of chewits! he could hardly open his mouth!!

My dalmatian has eaten a 400g bar of dairy milk before now with no ill effects. However, when he got into the fridge at the weekend & helped himself to 6 tomatoes, 4 beetroot, 2 chicken breasts, a pack of ham, 8 eggs, some lettuce(!) and a load of brocoli he was very sick for the rest of the day. Strangely enough, I wasn't very sympathetic!

Oh no! My in law's dog ate chocolates last Christmas from under the tree and had to be rushed to hosiptal and nearly died. His liver will never be right now

So mean that chocolate is so poisonous for dogs, but so nice for us!

My dog stole 3/4 of one of those extra large toblerones the other day. I had left it on the kitchen table thinking he couldnt reach it, only I forgot to tuck the chair in. I came home to find bits of box all over the floor

I let him sleep in the bedroom with me to make sure he was ok.

No harm done thank god.

Chocolate is very toxic to dogs and the dog should really go to the vet to be on the safe side. There may be more damage than just the dog being sick
