Okay, my pony came back yesterday after a 3 week trial. People are very genuine, i have seen the mother on the circuit and the daughter does PC with my friends. They are at a respected yard. Mother seemed to know horses and also daughter (11) seemed fine. They tried him, loved him, took him for trial.

When they came to try him i told them plenty of times that he WILL pull for food and may drag you around if you aren't firm with him (a typical pony). I would also just like to say my nervous non horsey mother leads him round etc and tacks him on her own at shows and competitions (this will come into it later on in the novel)

So, we took him to yard, spot on, see you in three weeks (we were going on holiday but i told them to ring my instructor or me for any problems and instructor said she would keep an eye out as she teaches PC)
Anyway, seemed to go fine, got the odd text etc to say he has been great for the girl riding but has just pulled her over once or twice for grass.

So, got back yesterday and she rang me, she said it took 3 people to hold him at a PC rally to tack him up(!!!!!?????, my mother does this on her own!) he also has barged around. She said she got a natural horseman ship woman out to try and help the daugher show pony who is boss, who said that she could not work with him and he is incurable (what is to cure!?!?!?!?!) and it would cost a fortune to put him right, errr?
he is completely wound up like a spring, got know what they have done with him as he was rearing (which he NEVER EVER DOES) when we were loading him and he just would not settle.

They have also punched extra holes in my bridle (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and shoved the bit up a few holes, making far to tight and we struggled to get it on him it was so tight.
She said she couldnt fault his riding but he pulled daughter too much leading, they want an extremely quiet pony to lead (they seemed fine with him when they first came to try him as i told they EVERYTHING) so i told them if they want that, get a 25 y/o dope on a rope.

She has messed us around loads as the last few days she was ringing over trivial things, she was reluctant to give us the agreed money in the contract and tbh, im glad to get the pony away from there.

Rant over.

Agree. Grrrrrrr!!!!!! What are some people on?? The bit that made me laugh was the natural horse woman ship lady... probably didn't use the carrot stick properly.... :D:D:D

Well, I too would be glad poor pony home and tbh, I think pony had his own ideas of where he wanted to be. Clever pony!!!

GRRRR i bet they did not tell you what they were feeding him ??? could explain the behaviour . Why on earth did they change the bridle holes????

Glad you got him out of there . we have one that pulls away like you explain.

I think its a bad habit and one that needs to be cured for the safety of the pony and rider , this gadget helps

Its a shame they did not get you to come and help with your pony first, still pony back home safe.
Would not be pleased that anyone put holes in bridle, you had this set to suit your pony and had no trouble with it, at least they were not bad people, loans most of the time work out this one didnt.

Agree with fuzzy furry too. Sounds a clever pony to realise they're idiots so hopefully he'll realise he's back home safe just as quickly.

Have to say, why is someone an idiot for not getting on with a pony? Yes, he is well settled with you so behaves. Yet even with you he pulls for food, my guess is he got away with it once and then continued. This happens. They didn't like it. They used their fullt rial up to see if they could live with the issue and they couldn't.. Wouldn't be happy about the hole punching I' have to say but why label people as 'idiots' for not getting on with your pony I don't know.

I think she uses the term 'idiots' beacuse they made statements like an NH trainer said he is 'incurable' hmmmmm!

She was honest about him, maybe they dont have the experience to know that some ponies need time to settle, he may have been fine after 4-6 weeks.

Cant believe they put holes in your bridle! that is outrageous! Sounds like the pony knows where he wants to be...are you in a position to keep him or will you have to look for another buyer?
