We went upto the yard today to do a banage change, took the old one off and the top of the injury is very weepy and looking horrible its going pink looks like proud flesh starting, all the stiches on the side have remained intact,so daughter was very worried and stressed about this so she rang the vet for advice, but he was on a call fair enough, but he never got back to us we waited and rang several times didin't want to leave the injury open (as germs and flys) for long so we re-dressed it hoping vet would ring, she just wants someone reassurance that its staring to heal

YO was nowwhere to be seen she lives there but must have gone out,she has never once offered any help,my daughter was working tonight and will not be home untill 2am she needed to get home eat and sleep before work,so we seen to horse, mucked her out gave fresh water, then i went to check her antibiotics and there was one left

now if i was a YO i would have text to say..blahblah what do you wnat to do,my daughter was a yard manager for three years before she started her new job this year so we do know how things should be done!! not asking to be at our beck and call but some commuication would be nice

My dauhgter is very strssed and tired having to go up every two days even if she has just done a 12 hour shift at work, feel like we are getting no help from yard or support.

What would you do

was thinking of sending her to a yard that does some sort of rest and rehabillitation and would give us some help with all this.

Moan over!

Things can look worse before they get better and proud flesh can be reduced but it probably does need covering as the pressure will keep it from growing too much ,at least the skin seems to be re growing which is good. Some yo do not like to get involved if they only do diy as they have to have better insurance if they care for the horse so maybe you could find a better place but if the horse needs attention it could be costly.Good luck

We are on full livery and thats because we can't always get up to the yard with work and if daughter is away with work kmost other full livery yard we have been on have always delft with theses things for us,when needed them too.

Yes its fully covered three layers of dressing and preasure bandages bit like a cast effect as told by the vet

has been since she did it every two days.

Are you sure that your mare hasn't just finished the course of antibiotics? My vet gives me enough for a course at a time...
I'm sure your mare will come right... wounds always look worse than they are.
For your horse, she's probably better off staying put til she heals than moving to a strange yard.

We would take vets advice reguards moving her.

I'm not having a dig at YO's but we pay a lot of hard earned money to keep two horses on livery plus working a little help now and then would be nice, thats all i'm saying.

You need a stress ball to squeeze to death.
Your YO probably has other things on her mind...we're all a bit dizzy sometimes.
And as for waiting for the vet...it took a well known Tewkesbury based practice three weeks to return my call (yes, really!)
Breathe and relax (or take it out on your OH!)
