Just wondered if anyone can explain what is behind my mares behaviour. She has a horse beside her who I believe is a rig. At tea time when I go to feed her she becomes really aggressive towards this horse mini rears, ears back charging at him. She stops when I yell at her but as soon as my back is turned she's at it again. She doesn't do this when I'm not there only when I'm in the stable block. I don't feel threatened by her it's just annoying . Any ideas :)

Does she only do it when you are about to feed her? My old loan boy used to charge sideways across the stable at his neighbours with teeth bared like a big dinosaur when his dinner was coming.

Despite his neighbour changing from time to ime over the years he still does it.

She only does this when I'm around & only towards this horse . She was stabled next to another young mare & they got on great.

I have a horse whose very possessive of people and more so me.
Initially Human or horse would get turned on.
Now only horses and only when I'm in the field and not stood with her. Shell stand with ears flat but never move when I'm with them all. Mines a bit of a screw loose but think it boiled down to her being very insecure. I now only work when she's by herself and scratches are done when with other horses and behaving.
Were working on manners but its entirely about not wanting to share me.

She is only grumpy with the rig. She is normally really laid back. The type of horse you can put in the field with anything & she doesn't bother. If it makes any difference the rig is constantly trying to bite me when I pass it.
