Over the past couple of weeks my usually incredibly sweet and lovely pony has been really grumpy and bad tempered. He has just gone lame, and I don't know if the two are related. He is seeing the vet soon but is there anything i can do to make him in a bit of a better mood or occupy him while he is on box rest? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think its the time of year for grumpiness, my mare turns into more of a grumpy bag at this time of year.
I know pain makes me grumpy so its perfectly viable its affected your ponies mood.

Take great care - your pony could be in the early stages of Low Grade Laminitis.

I have a small pony that gets LGL and every now and then he gets grumpy, pre-occupied, nippy, can't stand noise or fuss - he's in metabolic distress and has discomfort in his guts and feet.

It's become one of my "warning signs". Keep checking for heat and pulses.
