Does anyone else have a horse who gets really grumpy when tired? My gelding was a bit stroppy this morning (probably due to rain etc) before I had my lesson, but he worked really hard & I was so pleased with him. He was quite perky at the end of the lesson & had actually started to enjoy himself. Got home & turned him out. He was still fine.
I went up to feed him this evening, he ate all his feed, then went & stood under the conifers yawning & yawning. I went up to him & he laid his ears back at me
- most unpleasant! I left him & he continued to doze. Went back 5 minutes later - same thing. I eventually turned my back to him & he came round to me in a much better mood.
I have noticed that if he starts to doze when being groomed he becomes irritable too. Is it just him? or are they like kids who get grumpy when tired???
