Morning all
Sorry if this is all a bit garbled, will try and keep to the point
The OH has just been on the phone - he is working (paramedic) in the City Centre today and has just helped catch and return a young white GSD to an elderly owner
The story is that the dog (white long haired, about 2) has been left with the gentleman whilst his daughter (who lives in London) is abroad. The gentleman has a heart condition and is not able to cope with dog - can't hold it on the lead, can't walk it enough, etc. He stated to OH that he is not coping and just wants rid of the dog.
OH is concerned that dog is underweight (though food available) and timid. he is going to check back later (on both dog and gentleman!!) and find out if the gentleman was just talking out of stress or if in fact the dog needs a rehome and also find out if the daughter is expected back to take it back to London or if in fact she will sign it over.
In the short term we could foster at ours as I am off work and we have big dog kennel and run in the garden and ability to seperate Spangles from GSD but we couldn't rehome permanently - the house is too small and neither of us have GSD experience
To get to the point - If the situation comes up that we have the dog signed over to us is there a GSD rescue in the Cambs/Herts area who could find a proper, GSD experienced home? If so how do I contact them please?? Am only familiar with Spangle and Lad rescues and am loathe to commit to our local rescue due to their bizarre rehoming policies making most normal people unsuitable
Sorry is so flipping long - have just made shortbread so shortbread for all
