Hi all, does anyone know if it is possible to obtain Guaranteed Gold semen in the UK?
At 16.2hh he is the right height for my mare and looks (from what little I've managed to find out) to produce good stock, but I would be interested to know peoples thoughts of him, given the sad loss of RFF Alchemist last year.
I am looking to breed myself an eventer and feel he potentially offers what I am looking for. That said, I don't know if he is a fully registered dilute either in Canada or in the EU and whether there would be any market for a foal if it turned out not to give me what I'm hoping for?
Does anyone know what he or his progeny has actually achieved and whether he would be a good choice, or whether there are better options closer to home and why?
My mare is a well-bred warmblood, but an older type in terms of build and height than the modern warmblood competition horses, rather deep in the body as well as being under 16hh, so I feel she needs the lighter frame of a TB or similar, to produce a good sportshorse. She really does have really nice paces and also good jump on her, she just needs a lighter stallion to give her offspring a modern look and the requisite speed required if she is to produce an eventer, which would be my choice.
Guaranteed Gold seems to offer all that I am looking for, but being new to all this and particularly to potentially breeding a dilute foal which I am also hoping to do.
Any help and advise would be most welcome. Whichever stallion I go for, it must be properly registered, as there seem to be a good number of cremello stallions that are not actually registered with the appropriate bodies, meaning any offspring cannot be fully registered here.
Any help, thoughts and advice gratefully received.
Thanks :D

Donna is actually a member on here, but doesn't come on here very often. I would suggest that you contact her direct, lovely lady:)

The farm is only down the road a bit from where I live, and having met GG, I really can say that he is a fabulous horse, super nature and if I had a suitable mare I would have no hesitation in using him myself - even though I have my own stallion.

Registration: As well as being a registered Tb of course, I quote

[Guaranteed Gold is a Bronze Premium Stallion with the CSHA (Canadian Sport Horse Association). He is also listed with the AQHA, APHA, and ApHC.]

Good point Event Rider, I met Electrum and thought he was very nice.
His owner comes on here too...is it Truly? Can't remember.

Hi. You can see photos of Electrum and his foals in my Facebook albums.
The two fillies I bred to Event (the others I bred to race) have been shown in hand as foals and yearlings in Sporthorse and Hunter Youngstock classses County level very successfully and also received a Higher First Premium and First Premium for Eventing in the BEF Futurity Evaluations and Xenaura came 3rd in the BEF Yearling eventing Championships at Osberton International Horse Trials in September :)

Electrum is your first choice I would have thought Leigh is Fab and is very easy to talk to good luck and I will look forward to seeing pics of the foal :D

Hi everyone

Its been ages since Ive been on here. I really should come on more often! :)

I was kindly alerted to this thread. At this time Guaranteed Gold does not have any frozen semen that has been quarantined / collected / stored according to EU protocols but as always, it is something I am considering doing. Its just the massive outlay of funds upfront to do so, before actual costs are covered and paid for and an actual profit is made on it. Plus I need to find agents in each area of the world that has expressed interest, send it in bulk dry shippers to them, store it and pay them a fee for handling it. Its just not an easy or simple excercise at all to do ...

Having said all that, Guaranteed Gold has several offspring that are eventing currently with the oldest being 5 coming 6 in 2013, so very much at the beginning stages of their careers. Here are some pictures of them:

Guaranteed Equity - shown as a coming 3 year old, WB cross mare, showed in the hunter ring, will probably make her eventing debut in 2013:

Hope that helps and thank you for your interest in Guaranteed Gold!

Thanks True Colours, thats really useful to understand. He just looks so beautiful and slightly more solidly built that my TB gelding, who is a fabulous person (he was bred to race, but dumped in a field and left until I found him and brought him home and a friend had him because he was so very poor). My friend restored his health and got him going and turned him into a really lovely boy and I will forever be grateful for all that he did for me, as without him I would have lost my boy for sure. Now he is on loan to a friend, who was going to give up and she only borrowed him for a couple of months to tide her over, but that was months ago and they are so happy with each other, that I have decided for now, to leave D with her and concentrate on my girly, who has never been ridden, but is just such a lovely person. I am very lucky I know, but now comes the hard part in finding the right match for her.
Can semen be shipped as a one off, or is it just too expensive to do that? GG's offspring look beautiful, you must be very proud of your boy :D
Thanks so much for all your input everyone, if there are others you think I should be looking at, please do let me know, any thoughts and feedback is welcome. This is a whole new world to me, but I couldn't be without my horses, they are my life now, much to my OH's dissappointment - They're not a computer, so they're not his thing, but he does support me, so I'm incredibly lucky :D

If I had a solid coloured mare and was looking to breed a dilute for eventing, then I'd be seriously looking at Electrum.

Thanks Sportsnight, can I ask your rationale, as I haven't been lucky enough to see him in person? I am planning to get to the stallion parade next spring, where I can have a look at the dilutes on offer in the UK, but at this stage I'm doing my research so that I can make a decision on who would best suit my girly.

My rationale? I don't particularly want a dilute coloured and there is a 50% chance that my mare would pass on the tobiano gene :) That said, if I still had her mother, I would seriously look at using Electrum if I wanted to breed a dilute eventer (she has already produced a bay eventer by a bay TB). However, if I wanted more movement for dressage, then Legrande (WB) would by my choice.

Thank you ever so much. Apart from Electrum (I've now connected to Leigh on FB), are there any other good quality dilute stallions about that I ought to look at, particularly if I were to widen my sporting aims to include showjuming and dressage? I love eventing, but I'm more keen to produce a qood quality foal that will have a successful career and progress to a good standard, as well as giving me pleasure watching on the way (I can't ride anymore which is gutting :( ). I'm struggling to find many good quality dilute stallions that are graded (not that I'm entirely sure where to look - thanks so much enfys that link is helpful & I've made a couple of enquiries already, but again in the US!) and I'm conscious I've a lot to learn in a short space of time! I have another mare who was a very talented showjumper in her younger days, but she is reaching the upper end of where I would be comfortable to breed from her, but she is amazingly well bred, so I would love another foal from her while I can (she's in foal now to Legrande, based on what you guys said about him and his owners on here and you were absolutely right, they were lovely and so incredibly helpful, I can't praise them highly enough :D).Your continued help and advice would be much welcomed. Thank again all :D

Thank you so much faberge, I'm really grateful for your thoughts and even more so for the links. I presume you have listed them in order of preference? Sincere thanks again.

I wouldn't say they are necessarily in order of preference - all three boys bring something different to the party. Plus, I have only seen two of them in the flesh so can't compare all on a level pegging.
In terms of build, Decanter has a little more bone than the other two, but is still light on his feet. He didn't start competing until later on in life and has shot up the levels - think he's now doing inter I. Great hindleg and trainable temperament but not the best front legs.
Legrande is a multi-purpose stallion and finer in build. He too has a fantastic active hindleg with great flexion through his joints and body. From what I've seen, he too is very kindand trainable. He's competed well in jumping and won affiliated elementary dressage in the UK but is training the more advanced movements at home. Only question mark for me with him is the head/neck connection, but he doesn't seem to struggle with flexing through there when I've seen him work.
Quasi Gold I have only seen on video from his (unmounted) grading but what I saw I liked a lot.
