My horse has been diagnosed with uveitis and I have been advised to get a guardian mask. Couple of questions, sizing.. I forgot to take the tape measure up the yard and he is on full livery tomorrow but I don't want to wait til tues to order one so am hoping on taking my chances with sizing. My horse is a 16.1 wb x and has a big head, so would an extra full be the right size? Also I would prefer the riding version as it will fit his bridle better as he wears a grackle and I think the field version wouldn't go underneath a grackle? I can't afford both versions right now so is it feasible to put him out in the field with him wearing the riding version attached to his headcollar? He gets turned out in a headcollar anyway as he can be s monkey to catch. Also do yours wear it all year round? Do you always use it when riding, at shows etc or does your horse only wear it at certain times???

Star had the field version, and wore it 100% of the ime when turned out. I only had the field version, because she was turned out much more than ridden, however, they are fairly close fitting and I did ride with it underneath the bridle on windy days.
(I used it to protect a sensitive eye from wind as well as UV.)

I have a guardian mask that I dont need anymore. I bought it for my pony but it turned out to be miles too big - and she turned out not to have uveitis anyway! I think its the riding version and is either large or extra large. Its in a box in the garage so I can check if you are interested. PM me if you are interested.
