Speak to your vet they are best to advise - normally worm for tapeworm autumn and spring - if you use a complete wormer at these times eg equalan duo or equimax or the pramox one (sorry can't see your list just now) it will kill everything. You may also want to worm for encysted red worm in Feb. If you are on a yard they may have worming programme so that everyone is wormed at the same time with the same wormer. If you poo pick religiously like me you could have your poo tested and just worm as to what is needed - there are vets and other companies that do this. Hope this helps

Cheers Dawn!
Im on my own with my 2 girls, the land hadnt been grazed by horses for a good 5 years before I moved on, and we cross graze with sheep. I poo pick every day, and I dont have horses coming and going. Im on the Equest programme at the moment, and Im happy with that ( although I use equest and then equitape with Seren at the moment as she is in foal when Melly has a pramox) but Im really interested in worming/FEC's and how others view worming etc.

they used to say you should swap wormers each time you worm but now with modern worming programmes you can stick to one for the year. If you do one of the worming programmes then you need to remember to worm spring and autumn for tape worm. Some of them this means a double dose. Some of them like ti think it is equest you can use with pramox for a complete programme but you should normally change wormer each year or so depends on advice from vet as a rough rule. A tip is you can remember the active ingredient by the first letter of the wormer name so equest, equimax etc all have very similar active ingredients. some also like equesrt have longer time between worming such as 13-16 weeks. dont over wormk but dont under worm, poo pick fields, worm new horses on yard and keep in for 24 hrs after worming. if unsure speak to vet in all cases.

There is absolutely no need for guess work when it comes to deciding which wormer to use.

Speak to a Vet or a SQP (Suitably Qualified Person), both are qualified to prescribe which wormer is suitable for you.
