Prob technically a Vet Forum post but heigh ho....

Whilst being bored during Finni's clipping last night, I was poking around in his mouth and found he has ulcers on his gums, just at the root of his teeth. Esp on top teeth.

Anyone got any ideas what could be causing and how to treat. Will call vet too but just interested in people's ideas.

Thanks

I had a mare that got ulcers on the insides of her lips. The vet said it was a herpes type thing. I bought a little bottle of stuff from vets direct and painted it on, they cleared up. Over the next two years they came back in the warm weather and I continued to treat them.

Touch wood, we have gone a year now with them not reappearing.

Prob best to speak to your vet, but I'm wondering if it's a vit B deficiency as that is what tends to cause it in humans (I'm sure it's vit B).
