Over the past few days I’ve noticed that Millie lurcher occasionally has gunk accumulated in the inner corner of her eye. It is there possibly once a day, but not every day.

I’ve looked at her eye a lot over that time, and I have never seen any soreness, inflammation, weepiness or anything like that. I’m confused where the gunk is coming from?

It isn’t the eye that caused the £190 bank holiday vet visit 🙄 it’s the other one, she isn’t rubbing it or bothered about it in any way. Any ideas?

Conjunctivitis, that doesn't always get really bad sometimes it just sort of simmers. Or a touch of Hayfever, that can come and go, perhaps give piriton a go for a day or two🐾❤️

Jake usually has slightly gunky eyes on a morning, I think that because he has lost weight having had his spleen and tumour removed that the fat pads that hold the eyelids shut don't work quite effectively as they did and his eyes get a bit irritated. He never gets gunky eyes during the day when he's blinking sufficiently to keep them moist. Has Millie
Lurcher lost weight?

No she is very stable in weight and always has been.... it does sound like a bit of conjunctivitis perhaps? I had sort of discounted that because there aren’t any other symptoms that I would expect. I’ll see if I can get her some eye drops 😊😊

The Yellow Peril got very mild conjunctivitis last summer from pollen and dust picked up by running through the cornfields, we'd bathed her eyes as soon as we got home with cooled boiled water and the vet said that had probably kept it at bay until we got her there later that day. it cleared up entirely within 2 days. They put a green dye in her eye before prescribing drops to make sure there was no abrasion to the surface of the eye because they had a choice of drops, the steroid one couldn't have been used if she'd had any damage to the eyes surface 😎

What colour is the gunk?

Does she do the sighthound sleeping with eyes open thing?

I’d probably describe it as cream colour? Lol, the things you discuss as a dog owner 😂

No she doesn’t sleep with her eyes open thankfully, because I find that very odd 😊😊
