I am selling my saddle on ebay and someone wants to know if it has gusseted panels?? Excuse m ignorance but what are they. It is a Prestige Optimax, any ideas any one?
I think (I might be totally wrong, so someone might want to back me up here) a gusseted panel is one which has stitching, meaning that it can be shaped and the load bearing properties are more evenly spread across a larger area. A non gusseted panel is one piece of leather so has more of a rounded appearance underneath.
I am having a custom made saddle made for my TB which will have extra wide gusseted panels at the back to spread the load, as my horses back isn't flat and slopes down either side of the spine, so I need these extra large gussets made to disperse the pressure evenly.
