So to try and keep it brief. We are losing our home and have nowhere for my dearly loved rottweiler to go. I need some options of what I can do with him. He's a soppy soft fluff ball, never aggressive etc well socialized as a puppy gets excited with other dogs but only wants to play.
He's 4 this year, big strong lad so can't stay with my elderly grandparents. He's really attached to me so I'm stressed about what to do with him.
Also entire and I can't afford to get him done. Realistically is there anything I can do? Would only need to be for 6 months or so until we are back on our feet and have found somewhere to go that he is allowed to come.

Hope I don't get any nasty comments, just heartbroken and desperate for options for him. He is my big baby.

I would try and get him fostered for 6 months to experienced person. I fostered a dog 1.5 years ago, I didn't know how long it would be for. I was approached by a local dog trainer to take him on. I would start with a breed rescue and xplain situation, they may be able to help.

As I saw, I was approached by a local dog trainer so basically you need to spread the word. Again, local breed rescue may be able to help.

I have pmd the admin of one of the Rottie groups Im on to see if she has any ideas or suggestions, fingers crossed will probably hear back tomorrow. How soon does your dog have to go to a fosterer?

Don't the charities do neutering for very little cost? He'd probably be easier to re-home if he was neutered.

I agree that breed rescues are probably your best starting point. However, I really would consider getting him castrated , it will make placing him far easier. Compared with spaying it isn't a hugely expensive operation, if you have a good relationship with your vet ask about the possibility of paying in installments. It is also worth asking your vet if they know of anyone who would take him on for the 6 months. I also wouldn't totally rule out being able to find somewhere to live where you can keep him, presumably you will be renting and despite what letting agents say landlords are often amenable to one well behaved dog.

Im sorry op but the fb Rottie group cant help you, they have had 2 requests in the past for fosterers for very similar situations to yourself and in both instances the dog was actually dumped on them, fosterers are few and far between and to tie one up for 6months is too much.

As others have said look at finding alternative dog friendly accommadation for yourself or pay for him to be kenneled, surely you have friends that could take him for a short while just so you can have a bit more breathing time. Im sorry to sound so negative but Im just being honest and very realistic, I hope someone can help you.

Oh god, that's a shame. I'd never dump him on anyone, he's my baby and I will be definitely having him back!
I appreciate you asking though, and understand where they're coming from.
No friends that can have him otherwise I'd not have asked on here for help. :(

I know someone in Cheshire, kind knowledgeable but they definitely wouldn't take him entire and would expect a contribution to food.

Don't the PDSA offer castration free for those in need? Have you got a branch near you? If not, perhaps your local vet would agree to paying it off monthly?

I wondered if you had managed to find someone to help you out with taking him in? I know someone experienced with Rotties that may help if you are still looking.
