Am gutted, after taking a while to find my perfect loan horse (and that was happy for me to in the future loan with view to buy) that will take be a bit further in my xc than my faithful old mare who doesn't really like jumping. She was suppose be coming today so excitedly I have been down early waiting for her. I had everything ready, her feed, new rugs, horse insurance and much more. I then get a call 40 mins before she was coming to say she's suddenly sold her to a random that happen to come into the livery today. Am so annoyed, I understand that she wasn't in any contact at that stage and that she has every right to but not to leave me till 40 mins before to tell me! Now I have to start the process all over again, and those that were a maybe have also all found homes. Has anyone else had this done to them?

that is really a bit mean, I think it unlikely that someone has just walked on the yard and said 'I will buy that one', maybe she has decided not to loan her although it would have been better if she told you that. Oh well you can't change it o onwards and upwards keep looking. Good luck

It's her horse and she can do what she wants, but that is just plain mean! Maybe it's a good thing things didn't work out, she doesn't sound like someone you would want to loan a horse from. I hope you find something else soon!

So sorry, it would have been hard enough to tell you she'd changed her mind a short will beforehand but to tell you on the day is cowardly.

Hopefully you will find a nice horse soon, have you considered looking at any of the horse charity sites to see what they have on offer?

What bad timing for you. That's pants!
Guess a buyer waving money was like hens teeth at the moment and maybe the owners end goal was to sell rather than loan. Better than a month or two down the road and then being sold.
Hugs.

The same thing happened to us many years ago. The owner approached us via a trainer and asked if we would like to take her mare to bring on - it was a pony for my then 13 year old son and we had the stable ready etc then half an hour after pony was due to arrive the owner phoned and said she just couldn't let her go as she'd had her since she was born :( However it worked out in the end as a few weeks later she asked if we would have her other pony who turned out to be a superstar and won loads with my son :)

Good luck, I'm sure your ideal horse is out there, it's just hard to be patient while you're trying to find it!

Sadly, the way some people behave doesn't shock me any more. There is no excuse for bad manners and hurting people, no-one has the right to treat another human in this way. Have you thought of contacting WHW or Blue Cross for a horse? They are inundated with horses at the moment. Good luck, things usually happen for a reason. The right horse is out there waiting for you!

Oh I'm so sorry - I know how you feel!

It happened to me just before I found my horse of a lifetime. I went to see the horse, loved her, went back twice to ride her, took a friend to see her, arranged that they'd transport her to the yard, got the yard sorted, and the girl and her mother kept saying how happy they were that their mare was going to a lovely yard and they really liked me. They knew I'd connected with her, and they knew it was hard for me because my horse had died, and we'd even negotiated a price if I decided to buy her later on. I was in regular contact with the girl and her mother, almost daily.

Then two days before she was due to be delivered it all went quiet, and after about six abortive phone calls I finally spoke to the mother, who said "Oh yes, I meant to ring you and tell you my daughter's decided to loan to her friend so it's all off". Not a word of sorry or anything, just a comment that it was for he best as the horse could stay at the same yard.

Three weeks later the mare was back on Preloved.
