Went to a CHAPS 2008 championship qualifier show yesterday and Gyp qualified. It was only his 3rd show this year and his 4th ever. We are very pleased with him. He was a bit naughty before going in the ring, he found it all too exciting so reared instead of trotting but was fab in the ring. He had to have a good look at the greenery stuck to the working hunter fences, just incase they jumped out and ate him. But did a lovely trot, without rearing. Was a bit annoyed to be placed lower than 2 horses that bucked and reared during their trot up, but thats showing for you.
Hattie on the other hand did a fab show, the best she has ever done, did a really nice gallop, but was a bit naughty in the group canter, and jogged in the group walk. Interestly the judge called us in, in order after our group work and didn't change any places after the shows, something the crowds and riders found very interesting, when we had horses on the wrong leg, not corrected, horses held down on the curb and bolting in the gallop, but again that is showing for you. So we didn't get placed.
Luckily qualifing so early I get nearly a whole year to practise so hopefully this time next year Gyp will be an old pro.
