Sorry but I'm that annoyed I need to rant somewhere!! An hour ago I got a phone call that gypsys were in my field trying to pinch my coloured pony. I flew down to find 6 of them in the field + a coloured yearling. The yearling had jumped a 6ft ditch & smashed through the fence to get into my field. My boy was going bananas, they thought the best way to catch their pony was to chase mine about with a lunge whip, shout & scream & have a trail of bread leading to the stable!! The daughter caught our boy straight away & put him away, but he had been run ragged for god knows how long & was absolutley pouring with sweat. After being told by the useless ******'s that they had been trying to get a head collar on it for 4 days, I proceeded to put one straight on it & escort them off the field. The poor thing looked scared to death. So having repaired the fence myself, am now so bloody mad that they have been in my field & obviously been in the stables with the bread trail being there. You couldn't really see my boy from their field as he was kept well away from that end & its mostly bushes surrounding it, I kept him hidden away on advice from the police when the said gypsy family recently had a funeral, but now they've seen him. I just hope to god they realise they wouldn't catch him & don't come back for him. Luckily the fields only access is through a blokes garden, other than the 6ft ditch. Need a drink.......

Bloody hell - I think I would be very worried about them coming back now. Do you think they might have broken the fence down themselves and pushed their pony through in a vain attempt to catch yours?

Very very suspicious to me - why on earth would a pony just crash through a fence like that?

A few months ago I had a similar issue of some gypsies hanging around my gypsy cob but luckily once they new we were on the case they didn't bother again, maybe it is a freak situation but you could see about speaking to the man who's garden you pass to get to the field and suggest putting a chain on the gate? :)

I really don't know whether it was on purpose or not, but the poor yearling was terrified of them. They wouldn't be able to get mine out in the day as the man who's house & field it is, is in his garden all day (with his beloved veg garden) but its nights I'm worried about. I'm going to put a chain on the gate just in case. I've been on this field for 4 years & have never had any hassle. Gutted :(
