H girths

Does anyone ue one and which would you recommend.

I have a horse with a forward girth groove.

I have used a WOW standard thickness H girth on a horse who I could not keep the saddle in place any other way. It worked well but it doesn't half get in the way of your leg aids!


Have you tried a properly curved girth, where the buckles point forwards instead of there just being a kink in the girth and the buckles pointing out straight away from each other?

I have the polite short girth which is based on the faifax girth- is this the type of girth you are thinking of?

You need to lay the girth flat on the floor. The buckles should not point directly away from each other, they should point significantly forwards. The Harry Dabbs waffle girths are a good economy version to try.

A plenty long one, I hope. The buckles need to be a close as possible to the bottom of your flap. I hope it solve your problem, I use nothing but the waffle girths these days.

SS do you use the thick version or the really floppy thin version? I suspect the thin version interferes less with the aids.

The thin version, can't say I have ever felt it interfere with my aids.

The Stubben Equisoft? Doesn't really do the same job.

Thanks for that - what is its job?

It spreads pressure across the sternum as its main function (there are others), it's not about keeping a saddle back on a forwards girth groove as its primary aim, it might work for that with some horses.
