H&H Training academy

Just seen the comments and I got to say think HHO aren't going about this in the best way.

I wonder how many people have clicked off the page when they got the price, thinking well thats me out and thinking no more of it. I suspect most of their page hits are people looking at the page to see how the price is for them.

These ridiculous price differences are unbelievable!! I'm probably stupid, but i really dont see why you cant just decide a price and stick to it!

~Yep, I think you could be right Capriole! I couldn't resist, had to check it out - 4,999 for me but they probably know I'm a bit speshul so would need extra help.

I imagine it's to see if they can fill the course with people registering an interest at £5k

What I don't get is surely if you're already competing well at a high ish level (as is suggested you need to be?), you probably already have a well fitted saddle & pay a good saddle fitter, pay for a good physio often, make use of the (usually free!) feeding advice helplines, etc etc. So.... most of that stuff works out as interesting extras that you probably wouldn't pay extra for on the day. So .... essentially, that's £1k+ for 2 lessons and some 'free assessments'?! Sure, some of those bits might be interesting, or useful, but chances are you're already spending money on the best you can afford if that's the case.... And a tour round CH's yard isn't worth THAT much :P
For £5k think I'd want a free saddle & a sit on Valegro ;) And a week in spain, plus the lessons.... eeeeesh! Nope, madness.

£4999 for me too!

Can't say I follow their logic at all. Surely it's just running the risk of turning away people who would pay £999 but aren't having that price made available to them? You'd have to be very rich or very stupid to pay five grand for that!

If a person can spend the minimum price (£999?) on one days training, nevermind the other prices, then they really don't need any extra help. You would have to be very well to do, and probably could afford to spend stupid money on horses, tack and trainers already.
Its disgusting really- no wonder it is considered an elitist sport, and the people who need the help the most probably couldn't afford it anyways- just some spoilt rich people!

I agree, it's ridiculous. You can get clinic sessions with top eventers and sjers for reasonable prices - why inflate the price so much for Hester?? Add in the cost of a Physio, saddler, sports psych... It's still a lot less than 4k. Bad move, h&h.

I wouldn't have thought so as it wasn't actually available to buy at any of those listed prices at that time, I think it was just a test so people could register a theoretical interest over a range of price points. So as there was nothing being sold I can't imagine that trading standards rules would apply in that situation.

I thought when it first appeared and the price increased as the day went on they then put out a statement to say it was closed as they had been inundated well it looks like they were enquiries but no one actually put their money down if they are having to advertise again.

Someone on BD forum has looked up every expert on the list to find out what it would cost to go to them privately plus the cost of hotel and stabling etc and reckons someone is still making about £2k profit somewhere along the line.

I think H n H has been a bit naughty using Carl's name to sell it when in fact you only have one 30 minute session with Carl over the two days and feel a little disappointed in Carl for putting his name to this as not sure it will do his reputation a lot of good although if a huge chunk of the money is going his way perhaps he just doesn't need to worry about his reputation.

Makes my charge of £35 for a lesson look very reasonable.

I was told 3999! I commented on a fb thread that the price was elistist and out of range for us ordinary folk and that then lesson with Carl was only half an hour and I was basically accussed of being a tight arse and that this is the price of training for gold medals! I stated I wasn't ever likely to win one so would give the course( at a cost of more than I paid for my horse! ) a miss! Still stand by my comments.

Is it really an academy though? I understood an academy to be something you had to fight to be selected for, not something you could buy a place on... Personally I would have thought it was for up and coming talent, not those with the most money to spare.

It's a bit like the Animalife so-called 'sponsorship', that works more like a Tesco Clubcard...

This seems to have resurfaced today on facebook, and now they want £4k. I'm flabbergasted really, I know he's good, but is he that good!? :O You don't even seem to get that much for your money!! Absolutely ridiculous in my book.

I followed the link and I can't even get a price, I get "price on application", and when I clicked that link to get the information I can't get the price without giving my email address.

Is this just a stunt to get lots of contact details, for our email details to be sold???
