hacking a youngster

hi - I've got a 5 year old mare who is very sane but can lack confidence hacking out on her own. Have a foot soldier on hand but means we can really only walk!!s. Any tips for getting her to feel comfortable when on her own?

Nowhere near you sorry, but what about getting someone to come on a bicycle in front? You could have a blast if it's flat. Obviously they will be fast downhill though!

I used to get off and lead. It's great for getting fit and for building mutual trust. The times I spent leading got less and less....Oh and when I was on board I used to post carrots,pull off tasty branches for him to munch so he realised that when I was riding him I was still there and rather useful up there!

The bike ideas good, plus get the walker to go behind for short periods, gradually building up to you trotting & cantering & walker behind at all times.
