Hacking for the non-horse owner, south/west Yorkshire

I haven't touched a horse since I sold my beloved mare just before Xmas last year but now starting to feel like I'd like to go out for a hack again. Any recommendations in the Barnsley, Sheffield or Huddersfield areas for a couple of hours ride where I won't be treated like a complete novice?

I know theres a western riding centre in south yorkshire in the wortley/penistone area. Havent been myself but people I know have been and enjoyed great hacks

My friend has a western riding stables in Saddleworth, just over the hill from Marsden near Hudds. They do hacking out over the moors on tracks and bridle ways, you don't touch roads, with great views. Her website is www.oxheywesterntrailrides.co.uk

try Penistone and district riding club. Or Mallard house riding centre, Finkle st , Wortley they do accompanied hacks in Wharncliffe woods (6 miles away)

Its a little further than Huddersfield but try Tong Lane End Equestrian Centre near Bradford. The hacking is great around there between Tong and the Pudsey area.
