Hacking in Dorset

I'm off on holiday in a couple of weeks time in Dorset, near to Bridport, and I'd really like to go hacking. Can anyone recommend me somewhere that does adult only hacks (sorry, too old for the pony clubbers!) with nice forward going horses that are up for a good gallop? Don't really want to go pony trekking either!

I don't mind going further afield for a good ride, it's just tht Bridport is the closest place. TBH I am going with the whole extended family so a day out solo might be quite welcome!

Have a look at Studland Beach stables, about an hour or so away from Bridport but amazing ride if the beach is open, if not they do lovely cliff top rides. They have horses to cater for all too, lots of ex race horses along with the reliable cob types.

HIghly recommend studland beach stables. Hack on the heath or on the beach with very good horses.

Ditto Studland Stables - they won't be doing the beach rides at the moment coz of horse restrictions but the clifftop ride is lovely

They have a really nice selection of horses (a good few more than on the website) and are really friendly people, go for it

Tehe is Studland the nudist beach? Guess they don't want to spook the horses!

Haha yes it is the nudist beach!! You see some interesting sights there, although I think it was me rather than the horses that were spooked!!

I took mouse down to Studland a few years back in January with some friends and found a nudist (birthday suit) RUNNING around the beach. We decided, as he was on our bit, to push him in the sea so we lined up and charged! He had to run in the sea, which must have been freezing, but he came out and started running around again so we all turned around and did it again to him!
Unfortunately horses not allowed on the beach in the summer months-only October-March I think.

Studland is fab, but as others have siad the beach is closed now to horses, as for naked people, check out the naked runner in my vidoe of studland beach riding!

I live in Dorset and I think it depends on how far you want to travel as Studland is about 1 hour away from Bridport. I stayed on a Campsite near Bridport in a place called Burton Bradstock and they had adult hacks over the cliffs and on the beach. All the horses looked pretty safe and I think they went cantering or galloping on some of the rides. I think the Campsite was called Fresh Water Beach Holiday Park.
