Hacking in South Wales

Hi, I am going to be relocating around the Cardiff area and wanted to find out which areas are good for hacking and some recommendations for livery yards. The areas I'm interested in are Radyr and also Llantwit Major, am happy to travel 20mins to a good livery yard. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Sorry I thought I'd replied to this yesterday and just realised it's not there. Have a look at the "Livery yards near Llantrisant/Cardiff?" thread a few down from this -there are some good suggestions of yards in the Radyr/Pentyrch/St Fagans /Groes Faen area on there. Llantwit is a bit further away. I don't know the area very well but there's a riding school called Dimlands that does livery, Martin Edwards has a livery yard in Llandow called Spring Meadows. He's very involved in Glamorgan Hunt so there's quite a lot going on there like fun rides etc. I noticed a new (I think) yard in Llantwit being advertised on one of the local Facebook groups over the last couple of weeks. It's worth joining those groups as they'll keep you up to date with everything going on in the area. Try: Horses for Sale or Swap in Cardiff; Glamorgan Horse Riders; Horse Watch Wales; Vale Horse Tack and Pet Sale; Vale Riders Forum.

There are a lot of places in between those two areas as well. Some are mentioned in the other thread I talked about. Everywhere on there is within 1/2 an hour of Cardiff. The areas north of the A48 but south of the M4 between junctions 33 and 34 are lovely too, lots of forestry to ride in and fairly decent bridleways. I'm much closer to Cardiff but often box to a friend's to go riding in that area.

Time will depend on where your horse is, but there's plenty of nice places. Further afield, Ogmore and and Kenfig beach
