My friend and I are taking the day off work on Friday to box our horses to the new forest. We're near Whiteparish, so quite close, and happy to drive for up to an hour to get to a great spot

My horse and her pony can be a little nervous but we are happy to walk, trot, canter and gallop and wouldn't mind popping a log or two. We wouldn't like to ride for more than 2 hours.

Can anyone suggest a good place for us to park the trailer and a good route to explore?

Thanks!

Well, how about you park at Abbotswell ( near Fordingbridge/Hyde ) and you can ride up through Latchmore towards the enclosures at the top ( Sloden etc ) round towards Holly Hatch, and if you have time, stop at the High Corner Inn for a coke and some crisps, then back round through Hasley enclosure. You can easily make this ride shorter or longer.

Wherever you go - have fun. :D

Sprouts suggestion great!

You could park at Picket Post and have a blast along the pipeline (parallel with A31) then go through the underpass and over to Linford Bottom which is gorgeous with lots of streams running through it and do as long or as short a route as you want.
