Took Bob and my friend's horse Pudding to the Wyre Forest yesterday, it was fantastic. Our first proper outing, and both boys behaved like superstars bless them. :D

If you've not been there before, I'd highly recommend it.

It costs £4 to park your lorry/trailer, £5 for a day pass to ride the trail (all proceeds go to maintaing the trails for equestrian use) and you leave a refundable £5 deposit for your day pass hat-band.
If you ride there more frequently you can join the WBRA for £15 per year and get your own hat-band.

The trails are really well marked, and apart from a short stony downhill bit at the start are easy to ride and well maintained. There's a lovely section of stream to paddle in (and a bridge to cross in case you have difficulty with getting your horse through the water!).

A fantastic day out! :D

Website looks really impressive - I looked at the Worcs bridleways page and it looks really well organised. We are in Herefordshire and I dont think we have anything like that locally, but worth boxing to Malverns etc if we know we can park a box there.

so was it mainly forest tracks in Wyre forest? Walking or places to canter? (stream sounds good...). Was it just horses, or were there mountain bikes etc as well?

I'm a WBRA member & go to the Wyre Forest all the time. Yes, there are lots of shared use tracks but your horse will soon get used to all the other distractions (great de-spooking). There are lots of 'off track' rides there, it's not all forest track. You need to go across the Dowles Brook and then it gets interesting. There are some amazing sand tracks for a bit of speed work if you look for them. Nothing not to like and I am a former Taff rider with all of Wales at my disposal. I like the Wyre Forest.

And loads more rides too and WBRA membership gives you great places to park to!

so how does it work? if you join do you get the exact location/contact details for the parking places? thinking of joining as although we are in Herefordshire, some of the rides would be locl enough - and I dont tihnk there is a similar scheme in Herefordshire.
