I am looking for a new hacking jacket and a waistcoat.. i have a horrible hand me down one which after today i have decided i do not want to wear again LOL.. i may aswell wear just a shirt for the amount of warmth it keeps in..
so reccomendations, i need it also for eventing and showjumping, so needs to be suitable for all, velvet collars etc. are fine :)
Thank you :)

What's your budget?

I can't compete in the summer in my ratcatcher jacket - i would melt.... which is more use is more important to you? Warmth in the winter or using it in the summer? Different weights of tweed...

I wouldn't hunt with a velvet collar either - not for style reasons but because the fabric will absorb the rainwater and it'll run down your neck!

well, mum is happy to buy anything, but i wouldn't think over £100, i would hope that i can get a nice one for less than that...
it would be for both... if i get a nice waistcoat, the thickness of tweed wont have to be as much though, so sort of middle weight i geuss...
a lot of my friends hunt with velvet collars and seem fine, but basically if it has one, i donn't mind, but i am not not going to buy one if it doens't have a velvet collar, if that makes sense!

I'd buy the biggest thin jacket you can without looking swamped in it in the summer, and put extra layers under it in the winter.

Thermatex waistcoats come highly recommended by my friends who hunt Exmoor in all weathers.
