Hacking Jackets

Stupid question I am sure but I would like to know if I'm just going insane!

Is there any difference in the check and the herringbone hacking jacket or is it just a case of personal preference or fashion? Any do's and don'ts or other little bits of info you can pass on?

Unless a Hunter class I think it's jusr personal preference - I brought a pattern that suited me and my boy!

Was told many years ago to stear clear of Navy Tweed so always have.
