My friend and I hacked out both yesterday and today and nearly come a cropper twice!! Yesterday we had a lovely relaxing hack and we were just coming back through the village where our yard is and a muppet driver from the next village sped past us, didn't make any attempt to slow down. We were riding 2 a breast as it was quiet and we didn't even have time to go single file before he sped past really close. This chap has done this and worse ie driving at me, overtaking me on the road by driving full tilt on the grass verge, over the last couple of years. I have often thought would love to give him a gob full! Well yesterday I had enough. He drives to take his dogs for a walk so I knew where he was. Chucked horse in field after hack, jumped in car and flew after him. Had a bit of a chat with him, explained we thought he was driving too fast etc and he apologised, so we will see next time!!
Then today, we were hacking out, quiet again, and we saw a car and horse trailer coming towards us at a fair clat. Thought they will slow down being horsey etc, did they? Did they hell!! She must have been doing about 40 in a 30 zone, coming up to a crossroads junction, I tried to signal for her to slow down, she didn't take any notice and wizzed by. Thing is she had a poor horse in the back which preceded to scuttle about as she took the junction at a ridiculous speed!!
I am schooling tomorrow!!
