Morning

Anyone on here who hacked to a Kimblewick meet this morning? (Assuming Kimblewick but may be wrong!)

Riding a grey just past Bishopstone village just before 0700 this morning?

Luckily you were on a short grass verge when I went past you and didnt see you until the last second otherwise yours and my morning could have been very different!!!

Please have the sense to WEAR HIGH VIZ!!!!

Being on a white horse in practical darkness does not make you anymore visable in the drizzly rain on a ratrun! I was going slower than usual because there were a few trailers/boxes about so knew something was going on but others might not have been so aware that a horse was on the road and had you been wearing a bit of high viz people would have seen you a lot easier!

Rant over .. For now and I hope you all had a lovely meet *grumbles because very jealous as well as worried for you*

Wasn't me but did make me think. I don't hack to meets, I go in the lorry, but I wouldn't think to take high vis with me if we had to hack down the road from the lorry park. I always wear it on a hack but never seen anyone on a hunt wearing it at any point. Where would you put it once you set off?

After watching my local hunt trotting down the road in the dark last season I think they should leave it on. Times change, hi viz is about and it would seem common sense to wear it hunting. Easy to spot you on the road and easy to find you if you have parted company with your horse.

I attach an old bum bag to the breast plate & stuff it in there, I also wear hi viz bands, which are marketed at runners & have LED lights on them on my arms & legs for hacking to meets in the early mornings.

I put the hi viz waist coat back on to hack home.
