After finally getting my confidence back on the boy and doing lots of schooling, I decided it was time to take him back onto the common where he bucked me off a couple of months ago.
So off we go, it was quite wet and boggy, and we were having a nice walk, then we got to our 'galloping spot' where the ground was ok. Boy started jogging and collecting and I though 'oh god, here we go' so I told him off and beared down with my seat and he stopped! I decided that if he bucked/tanked then he'd get turned around and not allowed to go, but he didn't - I HAD TO KICK HIM INTO A CANTER!
Had great brakes at the end and we both felt much better for it. Tried to jog again on the way back but again beared down and he stopped.
I just can't believe he didn't have a bucking fit - maybe the old saddle that got nicked was the problem? Who knows but seeing as he hasn't been on grass on a hack for about 2 months, I really thought I'd have problems.
Self indulgent post.....sorry
