Our first proper lesson was today, did lots of circles and changes of rein, walk/halt and walk/trot transitions. We did ok overall but had a few blips.
A couple of the kids came running down to the school and frightened Loki a bit so we had a wee spook but we recovered quickly, going to invest in a neck strap though because I think I may have pulled a bit when I was left behind
there was a bit of napping/planking at the gate going on but by the end of the lesson we'd climbed that mountain ("MORE LEG! KICK" was shouted at me a lot
) got asked if I wanted to try a bit of canter in the school but I declined purely because he's still not balanced enough in himself and I don't want to push it too soon. After 20 mins we had a wee 10 min wander up the path to the woods as a wee relaxing cool down which was a nice wee change for both of us. Feel confident that Loki would go in front or behind with no problems now - except at one point when going behind he thought it'd be ok to use the horse in fronts bum as a face scratching tool ha ha!
He's an honest lad, even when he really wasn't keen on doing something and tried to get out of it when I was firm with him there was no real naughtiness and no bucking fits!
Poor mum didn't have such a good lesson though, her new horse decided that trot was boring and went for a wee canter. She sat quite calmly but was panicing a bit
She's not the most confident person so unexpected things kind of throw her a bit but the YO came down and walked along side her and talked her through it giving her a lesson within a lesson kind of thing and offered her a few private lessons to boost her confidence.
One other thing before you all fall asleep (if you haven't already!) is there a rug destroyer clique I, or rather Loki, can join? He's put three massive rips in both his turnout rugs in the last couple of days! Cue some hasty diy repairs for me tonight
... joy!
Heaps of choccy for anyone who stuck it out this far! Well done you!
