Hi
Last Tuesday evening i had a canter lesson on my mare (5 yr old Welsh D) we've been doing great and having a lot of fun etc.
After about 15 mins in walk/trot i asked for canter on the left and she struck off on the correct lead, cantered down the lomg side and she broke into trot so i asked at the next corner, correct lead again but i just found her SO heavy in my hands and i didin;t have a head in front at all!!
i totally lost my balance, tried to whoa her down etc got to the end of the school my lower leg must swung up and she did a buck, which unseated me..she went one way and turned and i went over her neck and landed on the edge of the school a piece of 6x1 - i was screaming in agony!
Taken to hospital by amulance - fractured rib and punctured lung! Got out of there last night. Im lucky it wasn't much worse. No riding for 6-8weeks and when i do get on board i will be going back to the beginning.
It was a nasty accident and im black & blue.
She'll be regularly schooled & hacked out at weekends while im recovering. Missing riding though!
I'll be making sure i keep my lower legs right down in future! lol!
