Pony cant canter on left leg without veering to the left - Its very frustrating, she is so unbalanced, she strikes off on the correct leg but just goes left then almost falls over and stops dead - I know its not her fault bless her! but it makes me feel really useless - have been trying to just do transistions into canter today with just acouple of strides then back to trot - does that sound the right thing to do??? Any advise greatly appreciated.

Dont worry too much having been having schooling lessons for over a year now and sometimes he is awful on his right reign his balance goes and he leans in and I come away feeling awful, but then the next time all is fine think it is just practise practise and more practise, is she a youngster?

no she is 14 but she has been a brood mare all her life - i ve had her since August took her straight from yearling so she was very fat and hadnt been ridden for years, never ever done schooling - hense why its taken so long to get the schooling going ive taught her to leg yeild and she is starting to bend in walk - and started to come down on the bit - but on left leg in trot and canter it all goes to pot and she fall in badly and bends to the right!!! Difficult eh!!???

i do lunge her - still have a bit of trouble on left she will only do it on a really big circle then only 3/4's of a circuit - what is a pessoa - i have used draw reins on her but felt it best to let her find her own balance with lunge caverson - is that the wrong thing? would the pessoa help her more??
