i was in my yard earlier and the pony who is owned by a girl in the village had a bee up his bum, i could here him tearing around the field and wandered over to see what he was up to...he stopped right up against the gate( not a little gate either), and the silly bugger tried leaping it... i watched in horror as the little 12.2's front legs went up and over, back end did not make it, which flipped him over, and landed the other side neck and sholder first in a doubled over heap on a slope :shocked, i was not expecting him to get up with out injury, but the little bugger got straight up thought about going over another gate, wouldn't let me catch him

rang girls mum, we hosed all the mud off him and all we could find was a 2 inch long scrape where he had taken off some hair and a little skin! such a silly boy! so glad he is fine, even if trying to turn my hair grey

What is it with ponys just now.

Got up to my yard tonight to find out that me and my friends ponies were tanking it up and down the field!!

She said that it was scary how fast they were going and they were snorting like stallions!

Do you think the nip in the air sends them a bit doolally??!!
 
they really are tougher than we think!, he's such a fine little chap, i really did not think he would be fine, there must be something in the air, he's usually so chilled out, i've only seen him tank around the field twice, any thing faster than trot is far too much energy!

Mine went nuts in the field earlier today too, had to get her in sweating, snorting etc. and she is a 16.2 warmblood (I swear she is a pony in disguise)

ouch that really could have been nasty.I would think though that the pony will be feeling it within the next day or two as all that weight coming down onto the neck and shoulder will more than likely have caused some bruising at least. Fingers crossed there is no more damage than that though.
I was having a heart attack yesterday as my horse having been in for 3 days on chiropractors orders decided upon being allowed out that he really did want to gallop flat out round the field through the slipperiest mud he could find. Luckily he is fine.
 
Larry was funny last week when I went to get him in, 17hh, and cantering almost on the spot at the gate just leaping about like a pansy. I was PMSL!!! Am so pleased that the thought of jumping the gate hasnt occurred to him!
