It was one of those lessons where it really gave me inspiration for schooling ideas later in the week.
The exercises were pretty simple, but stringing them together made them flow really nicely, and we had our first bash at medium trot.
First of all we checked our connection was in the right place by inside flexion/straight/outside flexion on a circle, then moved onto leg yield along the wall haunches in followed by haunches out/giravolta on a circle.
Medium trot was introduced by going three strides of SI along the long side before pushing off along the diagonal. It took a couple of attempts before Tartine got the idea, but it was AMAZING to feel the lift through her shoulders when she started to really lengthen the stride rather than just go faster.
In the end I strung them together so, haunches in, circle/haunches out, SI in the corner then change the diagonal in medium trot.
Every time I think about it I start grinning
It was a great lesson for me too, playing around with how much I needed to give with my hands to allow the "forward" but not so much that I was giving away the contact - I need more practice sitting a "big" trot though!
