On saturday night i had everything stolen saddle bridle rugs (second time) my hat body protector whips even my rubbish bag went:rolleyes:

We are in wakefield west yorkshire so anyone in the area keep an eye on your belongings

I am now desperate for tack so,

Can anyone reccomend a good saddle fitter who will come out with 2nd hand saddles
i need a large pony bridle (brown)
4.5'' snaffle bit
Safety stirrups
grazing muzzle - pony size

So if anyone has any of the above get intouch :) i will pay!

Yikes! How awful for you!:(
Can't believe they even took your rubbish!! Crazy!
Wakefield, although not on my doorstep, is a little too close for comfort, so thanks for the heads up.

Sorry can't help with the replacement tack, so good luck.

Are you stabled at home/privately or is it a livery yard??

Its a DIY yard the old boy who owns it doesnt hear us coming and going never mind burglars

Last week our house insurance ran out and as the renewal was so steep dad told them to stuff it so we arnt covered

It's not really about the cost (im not rich) i can replace it all but i dont want to spend much as no doubt they will be back once i have replaced everything

I have a cheap bridle possibly cob and a pony grazing muzzle which has been cut open under the chin (for my fat faced Shetland! But I just use vet wrap and it's perfect. If you can use either of these I will donate them too you xx

I'm so sorry to hear about your theft - I would be spitting! Have you thought about getting one of those metal lock up tack cupboards and maybe bolting it to the floor? I've got one - it actually fits snugly in the corner of my stable. It won't stop a really determined thief, but might provide enough of a deterent to make them look elsewhere. They would certainly make an awful lot of noise trying to break into it!

If thats the second time its gone I'd be looking to keep the next lot somewhere new. nothing is kept at our stables now, its just not worth the hassle :)

I think R&R will come out and fit saddles for you. :)

I have been on the phone to a guy called Paul at hey farm who is going to sort a saddle & bridle all being well

Thanks guys

It was at another yard when she had her rug stolen off her back

the ones taken were new and still in the bag so i hadnt painted my postcode on but the two left now have emulsion all over them :o

i very nearly decided to pack it all in yesterday its one thing after another:mad::rolleyes:

Sorry to hear about your thefts but In view of your most unfortunate experiences may I strongly recomend that you tack mark your new tack and rugs with your postcode and have your horse(s) freezemarked so that your property can be identified if it is recovered and returned to you. A lot of tack is recovered after theft but because it is not marked it is impossible to identify the owner.

Some people are so awful :(

I would really recommend you add your tack onto your horse insurance policy. Really doesn't add much to the premium, especially if you compare that to how much it costs to replace everything.

That is really bad luck, but seriously, why on earth did your Dad just refuse the renewal figure??? You don't ever just pay up without checking to see what someone else will offer you first. Tell him to go on one of the comparison websites and get a fistful of quotes. Even better see if you can do it via a cashback site and get paid to be disloyal :)

I had all my tack nicked years ago. The only things I keep at the yard now are grooming kit, med box, headcollars, whips, the rug/s she is currently wearing daily and a lunge line! Everything else lives at home with me!! Even the rugs she isn't wearing come home and live in the locked garage.

How horrible!! I'm so sorry, there are some really awful people around. I'm afraid I don't have anything pony sized to donate, but I hope you manage to replace everything you've lost :(

Feel for you x it's sickening and happened to me so many times, luckily not tack but head collars, rugs, new delivery of horse feed, worst of all my sons quad bike. Wish I had what your looking for.

so sorry to read this - i know just how you feel . 3 years ago (just 2 weeks after id bought my cob) our yard was raided and everyones tack went - its sickening.
I now keep as little at the yard as i can - medical kit, feed, buckets and grooming kit . Everything else is kept at home and taken up when i need it - a pain but im determined the thieving bugars wont get my stuff again!
I cant help cos all my stuff is cob size unfortunately - have you reported this to horse watch???? I have west yorks horsewatch on my fb and nothing has been said

Thanks everyone :)

i have just been on the phone to the police for an hour (the lady had horses herself) and i hadnt realised how much they had taken
Although they must of thought about my safety they left my hi-viz:o

i have tried to let all the yards in my area know

how do i report to horsewatch (i dont have a facebook)

Its creepy being at the yard knowing someones been in there fortunatly my not so trusting horse is fine which is a relief

On a brighter note its finally given me a kick into getting her all new brown tack:D
