Hey guys,

Have officially been initiated into the riding world with my first fall!! Came off the very lovely Conker today after some ambitious jumping (completely my fault) but am feeling both bruised and a bit of an idiot!! Please share my pain!!

The worst thing about falls is the realisation that you haven't come off for a long time, and are therefore due a fall!

I got fired off in Canada last year on honeymoon, from a mare that tripped over her own feet in canter, she brought herself down and me too. Those big pommels on western saddles leave a big bruise...

When i had my first fall i was lucky because i never hurt myself shot straiight back up and was crying because the horse had gone!! But he ended up in the drive of his field eating grass

My second on ei got launched off because she did 2 vertical bucks in a row! Now in my head ive got every lesson i go riding im going to fall...and thats not usefull when your instructer puts you on the naughter ones in the lesson because she thinks you will cope! i normally do but that time didnt! Would still ride her again though!!

Oh dear!

You don't live in Staffordshire do you? My daughter used to ride at a riding school that had a Suzi and a La-La.

Awwww hun, I told you you needed to fall off at some point! But you did brilliantly and you got back on and rode Murphy all round the field - and you were still grinning!

Thanks for all the kind comments guys, am developing a healthy bruise on my bum, but already looking forward to my next ride!

And no, I'm a Lincolnshire lass actually. La La is an unfortunate nickname given me by my brother in law - not sure if he was suggesting I spend my time in cloud-cuckoo land or simply saying I was a telly tubby! Either way it seems to have stuck.
