Well, I've had Milly almost 2 weeks now and not had any problems! She has been fantastic! If anything too laid back in the school! The saddles I have been using tip me forwards on her so had the saddler out tonight. Tried my two saddles on first in the stable. Bean's GP isn't too bad but not fab so that will be kept just for Bean. My isabella werth was a really bad fit so will have to sell that

. Then saddler tried 5 second hand leather dressage saddles on. 3 looked ok so we went to the school with them. Well, horse was really not happy in any of them, felt like she was going to dump me! But I don't think it was the saddles but her mouth she was unhappy with. I can't see or feel anything and she did have them checked 2 weeks ago at the vetting.

No idea what the matter is! Saddler has left two of the saddles for me to try out for a week to see if she is better behaved so we can really assess the saddles. Trying a albion platinum? saddle and excelle dressage saddle. Opinions on these saddles welcome!!

Fingers crossed there is nothing wrong with my horse. Really worried now!

If you think it could be her mouth I'd get a good EDT out just to be on the safe side, from experience vets are useless with teeth and if they were only checked rather than rasped there could be something irritating her.

If your horse is happy in the saddle you've been using and has acted up in the saddles you tried, keep using the saddle you used before for now, maybe with a pro-lite Your horse knows better than the saddler. If this saddler has no more saddles worth trying, go to another saddlers, don't be pushed into choosing something that's just the best that this saddler has, look everywhere.

Plus get your horse's teeth checked ASAP, then you've not got that issue confusing matters. Don't worry, it just sounds like a bit of a teething problem and you're doing really well with her.

Hmm well my instructor says that often a problem with the back can come out through the mouth and a problem with the mouth can come out through the back. My mare isnt comfortable with her saddle anymore as she has muscled up since I bought her last year and am getting a saddle fitter out next week. Rode her last night and she would not go forwards, kept snatching at the bit. Must be very sore under the saddle so am going to just lunge her till I get a saddle fitter's advice.

But it is a little strange if you havent noticed her uncomfortable with the saddles you've been using already.

Was there any sign of this before as it seems very strange that a mouth problem appears at the same time as trying new saddles.

if the saddles were tried without a pad it could be that she simply doesnt like the feel of the leather on her back. when i tried a saddle on Marley (which did fit him) he just arched his back up and felt like he was going to bronc, put a pad underneath it and there was no problem and one of my instructors horses was the same

You never know she may of just been having an off day or because the saddles felt different, some horses are very sensetive the the slightest of changes.

Or a simple case of I'm going to show you up' syndrome lol

Mr M did a fine job of this with one of the saddle fitters that came to see him, I had to lunge him for 15 minutes while he bucked and tanked off around the arena before he calmed down so I could get on the beast, I said he's not usually like this honest!

he smiled and said ''hmmm how many times have I hear that before'' while he made a quick exit out of the arena.

Hope you get sorted
