Sorry if this is self indulgent and pointless

I advertised a little while ago looking for somebody who would be interested in exchanging stable duties for the occasional ride, as I haven't been in the saddle for ages and I was getting a bit mopey since Bentley went up to my folks whilst he recovers.

Tonight I went and met Oliver a 16.3hh american thoroughbred who raced until he was 6yrs and still thinks he belongs on the track

We went for an amazing ride with his lovely owner (who had to cycle to show me the way

Once I had gotten over the rather strange bit (a swales pelham?) and untangled myself from the double reins

I settled into the powerhouse trot and got used to travelling sideways and listening to the funny boy squeal with anticipation whenever we got near grass

Suffice to say his owner was a bit suprised how 'well' he is and is pleased I will be helping out and giving him some more exercise

Hope everyone else has had a good ride today too? Please feel free to share

They boy did good!

He was still showing as slightly lame but HEAPS better! The vet was really suprised as he hadn't expected much improvement at all

Bentley now has a few weeks on limited turnout 10mx10m patch (fortunately the grass on my parents farm is about a foot long so he really doesn't need any more than that anyway!

) and he will either improve to become 100% sound or the extra bit of work on the joint will mean the problem flares up again- keep your fingers crossed for him
