Hi everyone
I bought my first pony last yr and after a lot of stress and broken bones etc he is my dream pony - He's a haflinger rising 7 and was mistreated before I bought him so had quite a few issues over the winter we have worked together and now are inseperable - I love him to pieces so much so that im thinking of entering him in to a local show this summer - having only been a happy hacker I havent a clue what to do with him does anyone have any ideas as to how to prepare him in particular do I cut a bridle path or not? he has a really thick mane and forelock and do I trim his feathers? As for me what would I wear for a beginners to showing class - and do I do it in hand or ride him? Sorry for being such a dummo!

Bump!
I would also be interested in any advice on this topic:) as my daughter is interested in showing our Haflinger, our first horse bought in November last year.:)

Likewise, you need to keep him natural. Depends what type of show you mean. Assuming you mean a local showing show, just pick up a copy of a schedule to see which classes are on . Unfortunately I don't think there's many classes that they can do however I can think of- riding club or pony club pony, foreign breeds, family pony. Local shows ususlly have clear rounds aswell.

As for your dress, a nice tweed jacket would be suitable for everything. Shirt and tie and light coloured jodhs(not white). Dark gloves.

As a personal opinion I think haffies look best in brown tack.

Good luck
