She's not been too bad but last night it was head in my face giraffe stylie and boing boing boing on the spot at quite a few different places

I am not sure what exercises to try with her to get it better?

Have tried 8 strides of canter 8 strides of trot but this just leaves her anticipating canter and trying to canter all the time

which ends up quite messy

Tried figures of 8 changing legs through trot which she does kinda ok.

What else?

I need to get her rounder over her back

somehow

Interestingly her trot comes really nice AFTER she's had a canter ?

I've got a lesson on her on Saturday but need some ideas to try tonight and Fri night ? Please?

Tbh I would just canter large, make it very easy and get off her back to open her stride back out as it sounds like she's got all her energy squashed up and going no-where?
Being in light seat helps them to round the back more easily

canter poles they are amazing at fixing a canter. set some out at trot and another set at canter, and just pop over them. I'm not surprised her trot is better after her boingy canter she sounds like she is using her hocks more and then this leads to a better quality trot.

canter poles are so under rated but so useful

good luck

My horse gets quite pingy when he is bit excitable, I have to just get off his back and let him have a canter around to settle him. I do have to push him forward for a bit more of a canter or it does nothing he canters at his own silly pingy pace lol.

It works for him, might be worth a try just to open her up and settle her down a bit?

Ok, so i might put 3 poles out and canter large or in big circles over them, maybe include figure of 8 if it goes well.

Am not sure what she's going to be like, not done any pole work with her and only jumped a X pole once!

I think she has too much bend to the inside on a circle but if i try and straighten her out a bit to go down the long side she goes all wafty and EXTREMELY wobbly!

Lill your probs sound very similar to some issues I was having here are some tips from my last lesson...

For straightness -

1) ride 1m in from the track so the horse is not relying on the wall/fence

2)leg yield from the outside wall/fence across the school, keep the neck and body straight, and if this is going well ask for a trans to trot about half way over still concentrating on keeping the neck and body straight, don't let the horse rush

For canter -

3) canter poles 3 in a row (start with 1 if she hasn't done much pole work, and build it up) these will regulate her pace, and get her to think about her stride, and lower her neck as she goes over and use her back (make sure you are soft over the 1st so she can go down and work lower)

4) Canter fore when coming off the circle to a straight line, when you come off the circle and begin your straight line put her shoulders slightly on the inside track, make sure the neck isn't too bent and this will help her to maintain the canter and stay straight (this work for my boy as he like to shuv his 1/4's in)

5) Also count your strides out loud if you want as you go round this will help keeo a rythm, and aim for 20 canter strides on a 20m circle.

Hope some of this helps
